Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace, Bengaluru

3.1
Once the summer residence of Mysorean ruler Tipu Sultan, Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace stands as a shining example of Indo-Islamic architecture built entirely of teak. As you wander the complex, keep an eye out for floral motifs embellished on the walls, a painting of the grand throne as imagined by Tipu Sultan, and the eastern and western balconies from which Tipu Sultan would conduct court. On the ground floor, browse the small museum depicting Tipu Sultan's achievements, featuring an exhibition of his clothes and crown displayed on silver and gold pedestals. Art lovers may also be interested in works by James Hunter, who sketched various landscapes of South India, displayed in the palace. • Really awesome place to visit there if you are in Bangalore. You will get to know information about tipu sultan family. So nice and love this park to be there.  more »
  • The Palace is a major disappointment, especially if you have visited Mysore Palace and have expectations. The palace as such is very small and very poorly maintained. Avoid!  more »
  • It's an interesting building as it's so different to what you see in the area. It's built adjacent to an Hindu temple - you can see the contrast. This was just used by the ruling sultan for a bit of "...  more »

  • Although situated right in the middle of the city, the place has a calmness around this spot. There is no such architectural marvel but the place looks beautiful nonetheless. It is also maintained well. The lawns surrounding the palace adds to the charm. All this also makes the spot very photogenic. You can go there as a couple, with family or friends. The place is friendly for every gathering. Depending on whether you are visiting to check the place out or just stroll around to bask in the calmness, you can complete your trip to the Tipu Sultan palace withing 1-3 hours.
  • It is a two storey building entirely made in pure teak wood with big fluted pillars supporting the whole structure. The walls and the ceilings of the palace are decorated with floral patterns. Islamic concept is used while making the intricately carved arches. As per speculations, the eastern and western balconies of the upper floor were used by the Sultan for conducting the affairs of the state. The ground floor of the palace now houses a museum which showcases a portrait of the monarch, his clothes, the missiles used during the wars with the British and a couple of his swords. Though the mansion is not grand in size, its amazing wooden architecture is one thing that shouldn’t be missed out. For photography buffs, its magnificent balconies and stairways create a perfect shot. It is located at Albert Victor Road, Chamrajpet, around which proper accommodation under budget is available for vacationers.
  • A neat and clean place , not heavily designed despite being the palace of a mighty ruler, Tipu Sultan. This clearly shows that how humble he actually was..The garden and surrounding is well maintained by Bengaluru Municipality. It will take hardly half an hour to have a complete round around this place... In the ground floor, there's a kind of museum where one can get a clear idea about Tipu Sultan's administration and what type 9f economic reformer was !!
  • This is a wonderful and very small place where you can take some beautiful pics and also the construction was very similar and symmetrical. There has been some several modifications done to this Palace also the maintenance was very neat and clean the entry ticket is Rs.15 per adult. You can reach here from KR market very easily by walk.
  • It's quite small really. More like a bungalow than a palace. The entry fee is reasonable. Might take you 45 minutes to explore and view the exhibits about Tipu Sultan. It's close to the Bangalore fort (only a very small section of this remains - free entry though). Alight at the KR market metro station to reach the area.
